Neurime (v1)

Neurime is a sound installation inspired by neural networks. This version of the installation was presented at the ITP New Instruments for Musical Expression showcase. My partner, Eszter, and I built a modular wall with fabric windows that light up and generate sound when pressed (using soft switches). Each window represents a neural node, and stores a memory of other nodes activated while in its active state.

The video is a performance Eszter and I gave in 2012 at Cameo gallery in Brooklyn.

I was responsible for the following:

  • Programming in Java to create neural network inspired connections and graphics

  • Circuit design and Arduino programming

  • Sound programming and design in Max/MSP
